The TTC Hamburg is one of the oldest Buddhist centers of His Holiness, the XVII Karmapa, in Europe. It was founded in the late seventies when the XVI Karmapa visited the European continent for the first time. Since then, most of the great Rinpoches and many authentic Lamas of the Karma Kagyu lineage have taught at the TTC.
The TTC, in its current form, was opened in 1995. The spiritual directors of our center are Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche and Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, who both visit us every year if possible. In 2009 His Holiness, the XVII Karmapa, appointed Acharya Lama Drime Dawa as Resident Lama and head of the TTC.
Lama Dawa leads a variety of pujas and meditations on a weekly and monthly basis as well as weekend courses for the TTC sangha and other sanghas outside of Hamburg. He assists practitioners with questions regarding their individual spiritual practice and is happy to provide advice on a personal Buddhist path upon request. Other Tibetan meditation masters of the Karma Kagyu tradition as well as some Western teachers regularly offer study courses and introductions to various meditation practices for the growing Sangha. The level of difficulty ranges from basic courses to demanding instructions for experienced students.
The aim of the TTC is to make the wisdom of the spiritual tradition of the Karmapas accessible to all interested parties and to contribute to a more peaceful coexistence in our society.
